This is a old thread. Also, for some reason, when it starts up, the DVD drive keeps acting like it wants to spin, and just keeps clicking away. You could test the power supply, RAM, and Video card on another computer. At this point, I put my money on the PSU to be faulty. Check This Out

You might visually inspect the capacitors on your motherboard to see if maybe you've got a bad capacitor, as suggested, too. I thought my mobo was bad. Unplug the DVD drive and see if it will boot. Cmos Battery Reset also make sure the power sw and cpu and 24 pin power cable are in right.

Today it booted into windows fine, started PCdoctor and after I scanned the hard drive, I left it idle for a few minutes and the screen went black, no blicking line So I hastily put it back in the keyboard socket. ( I use USB keyboard so the KeyBoard socket was empty) Today after the problem.
