disabled native sata mode in bios and xp setup did not complain. I brought my 1TB External Drive to these guys and they got files back even after a fall down 2 flights of stairs lol. The old HD could be placed back in the old pc. If your PC has only one IDE hard drive, it's probably set to "master." After formatting it, use Norton Ghost (or a similar program) to clone your boot drive's contents to the new drive. But yeah, keep checking in with the Dimension side of Dell's web site, even for the older systems, Dell surprises me from time to time by adding new stuff. Disabled SATA on HP Pavilion laptop and was able to instal XP which was corrupt!
